Who we are
WhaleTape (whaletape.xyz) publishes market data about Hyperliquid. It is operated by an individual based in Ireland. Contact for anything in this policy: [email protected].
What we collect and why
- Server and security logs. IP address, user agent, requested URL and time, for every request. Used to keep the service running and to stop abuse (rate limiting, scanner blocking). Kept for about one week, then deleted by log rotation. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Usage counts. To count daily unique visitors we store a short hash of your IP address and user agent salted with the date, the user agent string and the page visited. We do not store the IP address in this table. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Payments. Payments are made in USDC on public blockchains. Wallet addresses and transaction hashes are public by nature. We store the paying wallet and the expiry of the access it bought, to grant and verify that access. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
- Pro sign-in. Signing in with a wallet sends us a signed message; we verify it and return an access token. Your browser keeps that token and your last wallet address in local storage (
wt_pro_token,wt_last_wallet) so you stay signed in. You can clear them by signing out or clearing site data. - Prepaid API keys. We store only a hash of the key, never the key itself, with its balance and expiry.
- Email. If you write to us, we keep the conversation to answer you.
We do not sell personal data and we do not set tracking cookies of our own.
Advertising and cookies
Some free pages show ads served by Google AdSense, Coinzilla and Bitmedia. These partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to show and measure ads, including personalized ads where you have consented.
- Google and its partners use advertising cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, and learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through a consent message before personalized ads are shown, and can change their choice at any time.
- Coinzilla and Bitmedia process data under their own privacy policies: Coinzilla, Bitmedia.
The Pro dashboard and the paid API never show ads.
Service providers
- Cloudflare sits in front of the site for delivery and security and processes every request.
- Google Fonts serves the fonts on public pages; your browser requests them from Google.
- The site runs on a rented cloud server. Payment verification uses public blockchain nodes and x402 facilitators, which see the payment you sign.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie). Data that lives on a public blockchain cannot be deleted by anyone.
Children
WhaleTape is not meant for anyone under 18 and does not knowingly collect their data.
